听力原文:W: It was just five years ago that the iPod first hit the market. Now wherever yo
u go, you are sure to see those white ear buzzes. Steve, did Apple understand what it was launching five years ago?

M: Not really, it was after iPod came out that they realized everyone could enjoy this. Then they decided to extend it to the Windows platform, and millions of people took off with iPods.

W: What exactly has it brought?

M: It changed Apple from a company with a small market share with millions of computers to one with a massive market share in an incredibly important new product category.

W: Then iPod has completely changed Apple's profile.

M: Right. People are now being driven from iPods to Apple's computers as opposed to vice versa. They say, "This iPod is amazing. My whole music collections are with me. It's so easy to use. I love it. "And they look at Apple's software as well.

W: How many are being sold?

M: 67 million. It's going to be 70 million pretty soon. I think next year it will hit 100 million.

W: That's incredible. Do you think it is the peak or will it keep moving?

M: Keep moving. Take a look at the first iPods, they were sort of huge. They are getting smaller, and this year we've got even smaller.

W: I guess that's the other thing about iPods. They are amazing, good in your hands, so user-friendly. They're really imaginative.

M: Yeah, the more you use it, the more you become emotionally attached to it. You know what's really changed? I don't think Apple wants to do this. The music business world. On the iTune store, you can pick any song you like and buy it anytime you like.

(23)

A.How iPod has changed Apple computers.

B.The impact iPod has had on the world.

C.The advantages of possessing an iPod.

D.The popularity of iPod among people.

听力原文:W: I think we ought to turn around and head back down the trail.

M: Tired, after just a few miles?

W: Not at all, but those are cumulonimbus clouds building up there.

M: So, I don't really care if it gets cloudy. The sun's been pretty strong.

W: Right, but those clouds mean a thunderstorm, lots of rain and sometimes even hail with those kinds of clouds.

M: That doesn't sound so great, but I thought that these cumulus were fair weather clouds.

W: You are thinking of cumulus clouds I bet. Those are definitely cumulonimbus.

M: How on earth did you ever learn all that, from a meteorological course?

W: I'm an English major, but growing up on a farm, you learn a lot about weather.

M: You convince me, let's turn back, and maybe on the way down, you can give a lesson on clouds.

W: A sure thing, but let's get going.

(23)

B.In a classroom.

W: Go in the bathroom and look in the mirror.

M: You mean I've got them on How about that?

W: You're the most absent-minded person I've ever known.

M: I can't deny it. I'd lose my head if it weren't attached to my shoulders.

W: I'll never forget the time you went fishing and forgot to take your rod and reel.

M: I won't forget it either but that's not the most memorable example of my forgetfulness.

W: How about the time you started to leave without having any pants on?

M: No, that's not it.

W: It couldn't be forgetting you wallet. You've done that a hundred times. I'm tired of guessing, tell me.

M: You never would have guessed. I don't believe I've ever told you about it though you were indirectly affected by the incident. I almost married my college sweetheart.

W: You're right. You've never told me about her.

M: Well, anyway, the day we were supposed to get married was such a beautiful day that I forgot all about the wedding and went fishing instead. The girl never forgave me.

第6题

Students can travel in the United States without spending too much money if they follow
these suggestions.

A travel agent can give you information on special economy fares for trains, buses and planes. Think about hiking or biking for a part of your trip, too. You’ll not only save money, but you’ll also see a lot more of the country.

Some students may want to travel by car. Be sure to think about going with other students—many colleges have “ride boards” that list when and where other students plan to travel. Many radio stations provide the same sort of service — they announce who’s driving where, when, how many riders they will take and what the expenses will be.

There are many inexpensive, older hotels near bus or train stations. Check your travel guide for names of the best. Many parts of the country also have youth hostels where young people can stay for only a few dollars a night.

You don’t have to eat in restaurants all the time, but we don’t recommend a diet of candy and cola, either. You can usually get a healthy, cheap breakfast in a restaurant. If the weather is warm, you can buy food in supermarkets or at roadside stands and have a picnic for lunch. For dinner you can get the names of good, cheap restaurants from travel guides or friends.

26、The passage tells students _______ .

A.how to make travel plans

B.how to get help while traveling

C.how to use less money while traveling

D.how to choose hotels

27、To see more of the country, you’d better travel _______ .

A.by plane

B.by bus

C.by train

D.by bike

28、If you want to share rides with others, you can get information _______ .

A.on the blackboards in classrooms

B.from school administrators

C.through certain radio programs

D.from travel agents

29、According to the passage, staying at youth hostels is _______ .

A.cheap

B.convenient

C.comfortable

D.enjoyable

30、To save money, you can _______ .

A.have more candy and cola

B.invite your friends for a picnic

C.take some food with you

D.eat in restaurants sometimes

听力原文:M: Excuse me.

W: Yes, can I help you?

M: Yes, uh...I want to take an English course in September and I need some information.

W: Sure. Courses start on September 6th and finish right before Christmas on December 22nd. Um...the advanced classes meet every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from 6 to 8 in the evening, registration is one week before classes begin, so that's August 30th.

M: So there are no classes on Tuesday and Thursday?

W: No, not for advanced students. Only Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

M: And how much is the tuition for one course from September 6th to December 22nd?

W: It's 350 dollars. And if you want to continue in January, that will be another 350.

M: 350 dollars. Hmm. Could you tell me what's in the advanced courses? W: Let me see. There's advanced grammar, American literature and conversation.

M: Is there any work on pronunciation?

W: No, not at this level.

M: How about writing? Is there anything on composition?

W: Yes, they do some writing, but most of the work is on grammar, literature and conversation.

M: I see. And just a few more questions. Do you have a language lab where! can work on my pronunciation? And what about videos and computers?

W: Well, we don't have a language lab. The building is too small. But we do have video and we also have tape recorders in every room.

M: And computers?

W: No, none at present.

听力原文:W: Well, did you get to find out about tile trains?

M: Yes, I've got the leaflets here. And you got the coaches ,did you?

W: Yes, look, I've just worked it out.

M: Well, that's OK. There are trains all day, according to this. Here, there's one leaving King Cross at 8:00 in the morning.

W: (22) Oh, goodness no. That would mean getting up at 6: 00. Count me out for that one, when's the next?

M: 10 o'clock. Leaves Kings Cross at 10 o'clock, gets into Aberdeen at 17: 21. Not bad. Seven hours and a bit on the way. It's 530 miles, after all.

W: I suppose it's very expensive, isn't it?

M: No, (23) what about going by plane?

W: You know how I feel about flying.

M: What about the coaches? (24) But can you imagine being stuck in a bus for twelve hours? At least on the train you can get up and walk about a bit, you know, stretch your legs.

W: All right, then, you do better. Find me a nice cheap night train.

M: That's the trouble. There aren't any cheap tickets at night. It says so clearly here. It says the cheap tickets are valid only for trains timed to depart between 10 o'clock in the morning and 2:00 in the afternoon. Mum, here it is, not valid for sleepers.

W: (25) That's why the Day, Savers are cheap, you see. They want people to travel at unpopular times.
