听力原文： Last April, American businessman Dennis Tito reportedly paid between twelve-million and twenty-million dollars to spend one week on the International Space Station. NASA had strongly objected to the Russian plan to permit a civilian on the costly research vehicle. After two years of negotiations, space officials have agreed on a process to train private citizens to take trips to the International Space Station.
NASA recently agreed to conditions that will permit Russia to sell trips to the space station. An American company called Space Adventures Limited of Arlington, in Virginia plans the trips. Experts say the change in policy at NASA shows a new desire to use space vehicles for business and industrial purposes. In a speech to Congress last year, NASA official Michael Hawes said that the space agency had not considered civilian travel as one of the industries it wanted to develop. However, Mister Hawes said that private space travel could now be done as long as safety measures are observed carefully.

听力原文： (29) Tile Golden Gate Bridge joins the beautiful city of San Francisco with its suburbs to the north. (26)Each day, about one hundred thousand cars cross the bridge, taking people to and from the city. More than half of them cross the bridge during the morning and evening rush hours. As a result, the trip is not pleasant.
Now, however, there is at least one group of happy commuters. These are the people who travel under the bridge instead of on it. They go to work by boat and enjoy it so much that most say they will never go by car again. (29)The boat they take is the large, quite, comfortable "Golden Gate". In the morning they can have breakfast in the coffee shop, and in the evening they can have a drink in the bar while they are looking at San Francisco's famous scene and the nearby hills.

The region surrounding Lake Nyos is volcanic, and so sulphurous(硫磺的) volcanic gases were initially suspected as the cause of the disaster. But subsequent investigation by teams of scientists dispatched to the remote highland lake suggested that as much as 80 million cubic metres of CO2 formerly held in solution in the lake's depths, has been released explosively at its surface, such an event, called a limnic(湖泊的) eruption, had been recorded only once before-at nearby Lake Manoun, 35 kilometers from Lake Nyos. That eruption, which killed 37 people in 1984, was kept secret at first, as the Cameroonian authorities had suspected terrorist involvement.
Expeditions to Lake Nyos since the 1986 disaster have allowed researchers to unravel(拆开) the geological process that underlie the lake's lethal tendencies. Armed with this information, a small group of scientists and engineers-funded to the tune of $450,000 by the Office of US Foreign Disaster Assistance, with additional help from the French and Cameroonian governments arrived in the area in January to attempt to 'degas' the lake, and so prevent it killing again. The plan is simple—the limited budget and the lack of decent roads into the region mean it has to be. The team will lower a length of high-density polyethylene pipe deep into the lake and pipe CO2 rich water towards the surface, where the gas can bubble out on a controlled way.
Most experts agree that degassing the lake is a good idea. But some say there is a small chance that the effort could trigger another limnic eruption and lives at risk. Although villagers surrounding Lake Nyos have been evacuated(撤退) to avoid a repeat of the 1986 catastrophe, farmers and their livestock still venture into the area, lured by its lush pastures.
